Board Member Plan International Switzerland
Plan International Switzerland is seeking a new board member to join us in advancing children’s rights and equality for girls. As a member of our board, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategies and guiding our efforts to create a more just world.
About Plan International
Founded in 1937, Plan International is a leading development and humanitarian organization operating in over 80 countries worldwide. Our mission is to advance children’s rights and equality for girls, working alongside children, young people, supporters, and partners to tackle discrimination, exclusion, and vulnerability.
Aligned with the 2030 Global Goals Strategy, our 5-year Global Strategy focuses on empowering girls to lead change. We believe that every child deserves to be healthy, educated, protected, valued, and respected. In 2024 alone, we reached 43m children globally, including 23.3m girls.
Established in 2006, Plan International Schweiz is one of 21 National Organizations under the Plan Federation. Our current Country Strategy (2025-2030) emphasizes Education, Economic Empowerment, Protection and Climate Resilience with a gender transformative approach, and builds on our work in humanitarian response.
Our growth ambition not only requires Plan International Switzerland to retain its existing donors, but also proactively seek out new strategic partnerships with institutional donors, corporates, foundations, and high net-worth individuals. Stronger internal and external partnerships will assist us to achieve the goal of being the recognised partner of choice in Switzerland to create a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
Enhancement of Board
We seek individuals with diverse expertise and competencies to support our mission effectively. Our board members should possess knowledge in areas such as industry operations, legal affairs, finance, communications, organizational strategy, marketing, fundraising, international development, gender equality and innovation.
To enhance our board, we are seeking new members and are particularly interested in candidates with the following profiles:
- Strong background in international development and/or humanitarian response. As a growing organization, Plan International Switzerland seeks board expertise in the management of complex international development projects. In particular, experience and a network with the Swiss Development Cooperation would be advantageous.
or - Sound experience in the area of fundraising, partnerships, gender equality and innovation.
As a board member, you will be instrumental in driving our success. Your responsibilities include attending board meetings, advocating for our values, making strategic connections, representing the organization, and visiting projects to understand our impact firsthand.
